Everyday Tables

If you’ve followed my musings for a while, you know I like to get the most mileage possible from my tables. More often than not, the centerpiece stays put and what is around it changes.

Over the years these metal trees have appeared in one place or another during the holiday season. They are easy to work with as they can be mixed with whatever suits my fancy.

I especially like using them on the table where what changes from year to year is what is on the table with them. Until recently giving the traditional Spode dishes to a daughter, they were a favorite as they were the perfect complement to the trees.

Now this non traditional set from Bella Ceramica is my go to choice, and the metal trees don’t seem to mind a bit!

Continuing in recent months to try to improve my knitting skills, I made little stockings for flatware. Every place has a different one which adds a little fun as well as becomes a conversation piece. Guests have wanted to take theirs home, but I can’t be that generous as I want to use them again!

White dishes are good to have on hand as they go with everything. When a nearby Pier One was closing I found these cute snowmen plates that have completely different colors than the usual green and red.

Along with the dishes are a few simple changes like napkins, napkins rings and glasses.

All together they give the table a whole new look that is right at home with the original centerpiece. Best of all, the changes are made in a matter of minutes.

No matter what your choices, table setting should be fun as well as a reflection of your creative self. Except for doing what tickles your fancy, there are no rules and that’s what makes it fun.
