No breakfast. 2 PM. Hungry!
That says it all and not a restaurant in sight. By now I’m getting a little cranky to say nothing about a bit lightheaded. Headed in the direction of Beaufort surely, I thought, there will be a place to eat.

Ah, here’s one offering food with lots of vehicles in the parking lot. That’s generally a good sign.

But wait, are those porta potties out front? Yep, but who’s going to be choosy at this point? Not I!

Hmmm, this is beginning to sound like an adventure, something from which I never shy away.

Now, I do like a place that offers up a little decor so this place is beginning to offer promise.
Right away I spotted the chalkboard with what looked to be the menu. I hustled right on over hoping the offerings wouldn’t be ones that required a lot of prep time.

It didn’t take but a second to spot one of my favorite things, an oyster po’ boy. This stop is looking better and better!

Now, there’s nothing fancy about the Fillin’ Station. While waiting to be buzzed for your order, an option is to shoot a little pool.

Or you can mosey on over to the deck for your choice of seating and enjoy low country scenery. I’m learning to appreciate the beauty of the salt marshes that abound in the area.

Oh, the buzzer is sounding telling me that that oyster po’ boy is ready. Boy oh boy, there’s no disappointment here, and I sure am glad those porta potties didn’t discourage my stopping. You can be sure there are more oyster po’ boys at the Fillin’ Station in my future!
Those obscure, ramshackle, hole-in-the-wall places tend to have the best food. They invest their money in the simple but satisfying and delicious food, not the ambiance. The porta potties were…well…interesting, but I’m glad you didn’t allow them to deter you from enjoying a good meal before you fainted!
Sometimes the local dives offer up the tastiest food!
Certainly true here!
YOU found a gem of a place! And now I am hungry! That Po Boy looked soooooo good!
Linda, I admire your adventuresome spirit! I would have probably left without even going inside to view a menu.
Loved this! Never had an oyster poor boy cuz… Ottawa, Ont., Canada is a long way from fresh oysters but, I sure want one now! ❤️❤️❤️
That looked so good!
Even better than it looks!
You make the drive sound fun. Adventures Abound! DNR
You never know what’s around the bend!
As they say, ‘you can’t tell a book by it’s cover’. So glad it delivered well for you. That grub looks mighty good. We are sooo restaurant poor in our area, sigh. Hope your October ends well.
OMG what a find. Would have tried the onion rings💕
Yep, they are good, too.
