Everyday Tables

On a blustery afternoon when staying inside was a better idea than working in the yard, I decided to make pasta. At this house, pasta always suggests dinner with an Italian flair, and that suggests a very fun table.

Several years ago I had to create tables for a function where Italian food would be served. For centerpieces I collected an assortment of olive oil containers, several of which came home with me. For this dinner, they would again make an appearance along with the few remaining blooms in the garden.

I have a mix of dishes that feel like Italy from TJ Max and Goodwill.

Yes, I collect things for the table from a lot of places and totally enjoy mixing them up.

Having been to Italy a number of times, I have quite a collection of things brought home from there. You can be sure that beautiful textiles always catch my eye, and I love this woven piece that fits nicely on the center of the table.

Another of my favorite things are the napkin rings from a delightful shop in Cortona. Each one represents a different herb.

All done, the table is an eclectic mix of pieces that together are just right. For me there are no rules for setting a table except to have it contribute to a joyful gathering.

Blustery here today as well over 100mph on top of MT Washington in the last hour with snow. We have had 30 to 40 mph winds all day.

    1. This has been an unusually windy few months. Chilly here but no snow.
