It’s no secret many people lost their jobs during this pandemic. Loss of income is tough, but some found creative ways to survive while waiting and hoping to return to their jobs.

One young woman who had a way of earning while being unemployed and bringing joy to those who supported her effort did so by offering a weekly flower delivery. Each Thursday from July through October, a seasonal bouquet magically appeared on the porch. Most were flowers she’d grown herself. Occasionally they were mixed with ones she’d gathered where they grew wild.

Each delivery was a surprise, and it was such fun arranging every one.

The bouquets were always artfully presented. Sometimes they were variations of color and texture which tickled my fancy.

Some blooms lasted well into the delivery of the next batch making it possible to have flowers in multiple rooms. Often these were trimmed short and placed in a variety of small containers.

Late summer brought sunflowers. There’s something about their sunny yellow that speaks of happiness so having them was a special treat.

I also appreciated the ones that reminded of a glass of rich red wine.

As summer turned to fall, colors became darker and of different textures from their summer cousins. Some dried beautifully meaning they will last through the season.

Though few other than the hubby and me got to enjoy their beauty, having flowers delivered each week provided welcome expectation. My hat is off to the young woman whose ingenuity brought such colorful delight into our home.

What a delightful treat each week! The flowers you’ve posted this summer have been so vibrant, and you’ve creatively shown them with a variety of tablescapes. While our plants were languishing in the hot Texas summer, these brought color and life into our dog days! Thank you Linda!
