Everyday Tables

Even the flowers in my fading garden know the season has changed from summer to fall. Replacing pink, white and yellow are deep reds, orange and purple.

Inside a collection of blooms are arranged in bottles, my favorite containers for simple creations.

The flowers are a perfect match for this table runner and dishes that repeat not only color but the leaf shapes. Sometimes pieces come together to make a beautiful whole.

With color and pattern established, putting together the rest of the table was easy. The copper toned flatware adds a bit of sparkle, and I do like making up my own rules for how flatware is arranged.

Napkins are held in pewter figurals, each one different and wonderful substitutes for the real thing made from sterling silver.

The table has both a warm and rustic look which made me think of making lasagna. That provided perfect excuse for adding a few saved olive oil tins among the bottles of flowers for an Italian flavor.

Sometimes a table comes together in unexpected ways. The idea is always to have it be a way for expressing your unique self.
