Everyday Tables

Though the hubby and I continue being cautious when it comes to venturing out, we decided the time has come to share a dinner with friends who, like us, appear not to be affected by the coronavirus.

Evenings are quite pleasant, so the porch, with a few changes to the table, is where we will be.

Bird sounds are about the only ones we hear these days, so it was a no brainer to let birds be the theme for the small table. Little glass birds hold purple blooms snipped from garlic plants.

Their ceramic counterparts have napkins gathered in. Both the flowers and the napkins play off the colors in the handwoven cloth to create a lively palette.

Having decided to serve pasta, my preference is for bowls rather than plates. Their white is accented with patterned salad plates from World Market.

As I looked at the table, it came to me that a fun addition would be this multicolored flatware. I find that inexpensive flatware is a great way to add interest to a table, so my eyes are always open for a set.

All done, the table is ready for the evening to come, and we look forward to sharing how we have endured these weeks of separation. For all of us, the threat of Covid19 has resulted in a life we’ve never known, and it will be wonderful to gradually increase our human contact.
