Welcome 2020

I don’t know about you, but I’m glad the last decade is over as it was somewhat topsy turvey.

On the plus side personally were the births of two grandsons, travels to interesting places, time shared with good friends, a granddaughter graduating with honors and starting college, the Astros winning the World Series (2017).

On the negative side were the Astros losing the World Series (2019), a daughter experiencing the trauma of divorce, the loss of my mother and brother as well as several friends, politics spinning out of control.

As we enter this new decade, I am erasing the negatives and looking forward with optimism. I believe in the inherent goodness of people which gives me hope that we in the U.S. can overcome the differences that plague us. I hope that a change in leadership will lead to regaining the respect this country has lost.

I tend not to make resolutions as each new year begins because it’s not likely I’ll stick to them. My ongoing goal is to find ways to make life meaningful. There is opportunity out there waiting for one to respond.

As for Lulu’s Musings, I’ll continue to write as long as I feel there is something to share. I am so grateful to all of you who choose to follow along, and I look forward to your adventures, recipes, photography, home decor and whatever else sparks your interest. Here’s wishing us all a wonderful decade which starts today.

Cheers!

  1. Thank you for sharing so many great ideas! 🙂

  2. Obama is the one who lost the respect for our country, not Trump

    1. I am not sure any one person bears the blame for loss of respect. It takes a variety of circumstances.

  3. Happy New Year, Linda. I too look forward to leaving behind this decade, yet I am grateful for health, happiness, and hope. May 2020 be a wonderful year for you and your family. I enjoy your musings, and look forward to hearing more from you in this new year.

    1. Like you, I have much for which to be grateful.

  4. Lulu,
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
I wish everyone a happy, healthy, fruitful year where the people of the planet can work peacefully together to help restore the planet to a more healthy and sustainable place, that we all remember the value of people over ‘things’ , not just family and friends but also strangers, people we don’t know, making the world better for those people in society that may be slipping through the cracks.
I wish that humanity will realise that our world is suffering, and needs urgent environmental medical treatment before we find ourselves on planetary life support with people fighting for recourses.
I wish that everyone could get along and that we learn to live in global peace.
Ok… tall orders but if we all start somewhere… who knows?

    1. How I wish people could work better together, but that does not seem to be a prevailing wish at the moment. At some point, circumstances will make it a necessity to do better.

  5. Sorry for your losses this year… May the New Year bring inner peace and contentment to you and yours, Lulu!

    1. Thank you, Ellen, and you know I wish the same for you.

  6. Happy Happy New Year Lulu! Sorry to hear about your losses this year. Life is quite the journey, isn’t it? Wishing you the best in 2020 and enjoying those grandkids and travel and fun. I too do my best to remain optimistic.

  7. Happy New Decade Lulu and I hope it holds more joy than sorrow for all of us 💝
I’m sorry for your losses, I lost my mother and best friend in the last decade, but, like you I’ve gained beautiful grandchildren-5 in my case!
However I’m facing the sadness and worry of my youngest daughters marriage in difficulties and it breaks my heart .
But we bloggers get a lot of healing through our writing so I can only hope the inspiration flows through our pens and your threads.
    Thanks for your beautiful blogposts!

    1. It seems there is always something to offset sadness for which I am very grateful.

  8. Keep writing! Wishing a better decade for you!

  9. Happy New Year Linda🎊🎊🎊
