“Please be home by 3 o’clock,” said I to the hubby. “We are going on an adventure.” What that meant was we were traveling 60 miles down the road to Galveston’s Moody Gardens to check out the spectacular exhibits presented during the holiday season.
For several years the gardens have been transformed into a magical light show that attracts thousands of visitors.
Stepping through those arches the visitor is introduced to another world where towering soldiers welcome.
To see all of the light show meant walking a one mile path. As we moved along it was interesting to note the changing themes.
Some seemed to me to reflect island life in Galveston. This one reminded me of the hours I spent fishing off our pier when we had a house there. I didn’t catch much, but the effort was very therapeutic.
There were scenes portraying images of Santa’s elves preparing toys to fulfill children’s dreams.
There were carolers
and folks riding in a one horse open sleigh.
Of course, there had to be an image or two reminding of Texas.
Though Santa is an image all can relate to, no exhibit would be complete without the Christmas story.
It was dramatically narrated and as each part was told, images lit to represent the manger scene, the shepherds and wisemen.
Part of the joy of experiencing the exhibit was observing families. Children were excited by the wonder of it all, and that brought smiles of pleasure to parents’ faces. It is such times that makes all seem well with the world.

I love these, my favourites are the carolers, the little one is gorgeous, the nativity scene and the angel.
I have a question though: It was that dark at four in the afternoon? (assuming about one hour travel to get there???) I’m a bit confused (could be jet-lag though, I will blame it on that) 🙂
How beautiful they are and especially the nativity scenes!
