Simple Changes

If you are still thinking about your Thanksgiving table and want some new ideas, I’ve done a bit of looking around for you. Whatever your look, there’re plenty of ways to give the table a little boost.

A very simple change is a new table runner. This one from Pottery Barn provides inspiration for a variety of looks.

I can see it now festooned with an array of pumpkins and gourds either real or chosen from the many faux ones available.

PB’s autumn leaf plates offer another possibility for arranging a table around these selections. What I like about the plates is they can be used throughout the fall season with a number of accents.

Quite another look could be created with this runner from Pier 1, always a great source for affordable holiday decor. This one opens the door for both a traditional and non traditional look. Imagine how much fun it would be to do a Thanksgiving table in black and white with orange accents.

At Williams Sonoma these autumn plaid dishes are the cat’s meow. Though marketed for fall tables, I see no reason they couldn’t be used any time of year.

There are many ways to use them creatively, but what caught my eye as a now complement were the jacquard napkins and placemats. No way could you go wrong with the dishware and the linens with a collection of pumpkins and gourds as the centerpiece.

On any table these little pumpkins holding long slim tapers would mix nicely among other decorative elements. These are also at Williams Sonoma.

Flatware can add such interest to any setting. This gold toned set at West Elm would add sparkle and shine to any Thanksgiving table.

This was one of my favorite finds that doubles both as a holder for cutlery and as a place card. These are available online at Canary & King.

Thanksgiving is all about being grateful and these napkin rings at Crate & Barrel are the perfect reminders.

Should you be going to someone else’s home for turkey, here are a couple of suggestions for a hostess happy. Pier 1 has a nice selection of scented candles, none better than the pumpkin spice one.

Seasonal dish towels are always wonderful as a gift, and you might want to gobble up a few of these from Crate and Barrel.

No matter what you choose for your Thanksgiving table, let it be an opportunity for expressing yourself creatively. The effort will not go unnoticed.
