More than once I’ve been asked if I set a table on those nights when it’s just the hubby and me eating at home. The answer is yes whether we have dinner at the bar or a table.

It’s very easy to plop down placemats and and napkins. Like so many of you I have lots to choose from, and what are they for if not to use?

From there, it’s all a matter of choosing dishes. I always give that some thought as I like the selection to be one that creates a look and ties the setting together.

No matter where we eat, there is some decor on the surface. Now, if you happen to recognize the pumpkins, they are the same as were used on recent Maine tables. I can’t bear to throw them away before leaving, so I pack them up and bring them to Houston where they will be used through the holidays. Whoever has to carry the bag they are in always wonders what makes it so heavy.

So, without it being a big deal all is ready for the evening meal

Like the setting, dinners for the two of us are simple. Most of the time I cook, but there are those evenings when the main dish comes from Costco or Trader Joe’s. Both have some very tasty prepared foods.
Now, if you are wondering if the hubby would just as soon eat off paper plates and use paper napkins, I don’t know the answer. You’d have to ask him!

You are inspiring, Linda! Pretty tablescape for two!
I am so looking forward to meeting you in Houston. I am so glad it worked out.
Sorry, Linda I hit reply before I was finished. I love your everyday tables. I just realized I have those placemats and need to pull them out and use them.
A simple meal is elevated when you set a nice table for the two
I agree, if you have them, use them! It is lovely that you make the effort daily, I have a feeling you get much pleasure out of it! Meals are too rushed these days, they should always be celebrated, enjoyed with gratitude. I love that you bring your pumpkins with you, I would do the same thing!

Beautiful! How lovely for the both of you!
Lulu! We do have some melamine plates but we stilll prefer to eat mains from “real” plates! Something to highlight the food! There are soooo many choices for sides…such as salads, etc. YOU KNOW!🥰 Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android
That’s a great habit to enjoy. I have to admit I have some cloth napkins I’ve never used. Might be time to downsize my napkin hoard.
I look at using cloth napkins as being environmentally friendly. (:
I do to but just a simple one if it’s just the 2 of us!!! Not as polished as yours!!
Good for you. Keep up the habit!
Always so well coordinated! I was in Houston last week! Didn’t see you?! 🙂
Just got back a few days ago. It would have been very nice to meet you. Should you come again, we are here November-May.
