My Happy Place

Many of us have in our homes far more space than we need. That realization becomes a reality when I spend time on our boat.

This is Pipe Dreams, a beautiful craft made by Hinckley. At one time Hinckley was known for its beautiful sailboats, but these days the company’s power boats have become popular choices for boaters. The advantage they have over a sailboat is that you can plan an outing and know you are going to get there with or without wind!

I’m crazy about spending time away on the boat where there is everything I need to be comfortable. The forward cabin has a cozy berth with a queen size bed.

Maizy the boat dog has no problem lounging there!

There is plenty of closet and storage space for whatever clothing is necessary for a multi day trip.

The bath accommodations allow privacy with a shower on one side and the toilet and sink on the other.

When it comes to preparing food, the galley is compact with a refrigerator, freezer, microwave and cooktop. What more could one require? There have been times when two of us worked together in this space and didn’t get in each others way. Opposite the galley is a table that comfortably seats 4-6 and when extra folks are on board it converts to a double bunk.

When I’m not below, this is my spot. Here I can take in the beauty that is all around, read, prepare a blog post or write in the log book.

At the end of the day when we’ve docked or anchored in a safe harbor, we have tini time. If others are around, we are always happy to have them join us for refreshment and lively conversation.

Yes, being on the water is my happy place, and I want to enjoy every minute that is left before the weather changes and Pipe Dreams goes to bed for the winter.
