You might not believe that in small town Maine there are over the top events like Grape Affair in the vineyard at Cellar Door Winery. Each year it is an evening to which people look forward. This one was a Gatsby affair set in the vineyard on a nearly perfect evening.
Every detail from the table settings
to the beautifully plated food
to the chandeliers that sparkled and lit the night sky was perfection.
Party goers got into the event’s theme. F. Scott Fitzgerald would be proud to know the attire Gatsby and Daisy inspired.
If you happened not to have anything Gatsby style, there was plenty to borrow from around the venue.
Entertainment at these events is always spectacular. Headlining this time was Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. You may remember him as the winner of America’s Got Talent a couple of seasons ago.
His smooth Frank Sinatralike renditions of old favorites had people dancing and singing along.
The entertainment didn’t stop with Landau. There was an energetic, high stepping performance reflective of the Gatsby era.
Then, as the sun set and the evening cooled, Matchmaker Band from Austin, Texas, took the stage. I’m telling you no one could stay in their seats when their music started. That band played all the songs people like to dance to!
Most of the time the dance floor was so crowded all you had to do was move a little and call it dancing!
What I like about these vineyard events compared to many galas I’ve attended is that it draws a very diverse crowd that comes with the idea of having fun. The theme is always, as impressive as any you can imagine, and the affairs are a uniquely Maine standout. No wonder the tickets sell out in about five minutes!
