Can it be that seven months have flown by and we are welcoming August? While I regret that time passes so quickly, I like August because it is a month in full bloom in Maine.

Since I am unaccustomed to having such bounty in Houston, it thrills me to go into the garden and cut blooms every day. You can be sure that many end up in arrangements of bottles on the dining room table.

Beautiful blooms make it a no brainer when it comes to setting a table. This time they inspired me to use these plates, favorites from TJ Maxx. They are a perfect complement for both the flowers and the handwoven cloth on which they sit.

From there, choosing accessories was easy. A selection of napkins repeating the colors in the plates are folded accordion style.

I’m crazy for these thumbprint glasses and use them to add color to any number of tables. While I have two other sets, I’ve not seen this color again which makes me appreciate the glasses all the more.

As I was finishing the table with silver flatware, it dawned on me I had a set that would continue the table’s color way. I can’t remember where the set came from, but it’s finds like this that add such fun to any table.

With the table all done, it’s time to start thinking about the menu. I’m thinking a cold blueberry soup would be a nice starter followed by a grilled salmon topped with fresh corn and tomato salsa. How does that sound?
