From Barcelona, it was a short plane ride to Granada. Everything about this place from the narrow streets adorned with lush hanging baskets

and strings of patterned lights that at night suggested a party waiting to happen is a delight.

The architecture is stunning

and the food oh so good though sometimes there was a surprise when we didn’t quite know what we were eating.

One thing we became very familiar with was Russian salad which seemed to appear on every table once a beverage was ordered. We did have our fill of it!

Of course, the main attraction in Granada is Alhambra, a moorish palace dating back to the 13th century.

From every light and airy room is a breathtaking view of the city below.

Trying to describe this incredible place is an impossible challenge.

Alhambra is an outstanding example of Islamic art done with cedar, stucco and mosaic.

This mosaic pattern reminded me of one I have woven a number of times. It and others were described as moorish geometry. Isn’t it amazing how we continue to draw from work done centuries ago?

Throughout the grounds are lovely water features that reflect the surrounding beauty

and gardens, yet another area to tickle the senses.

One could spend a day wandering among them and breathing their perfume.

Yes, Granada is one of those places that can quickly steal your heart as there is so much to like.
i so appreciate your visit and the comments you leave behind
Yumyum I also tried russian salad, I think it’s pretty cool 🙂 It looked completely different tho where I had it. Thought it was with tuna and vegetables and stuff? Yours looks so creamy!
Everywhere we had it was a bit different so I’m not sure what’s authentic!
Looks like a grand place to visit. Not familiar with that Russian salad but Russia is a huge country with many regions and popular foods.
Such beautiful photos Linda! Just stunning! You are brave to try food you’re not familiar with, whatever is Russian Salad?
