Everyday Tables

In our house, a favorite food is anything TexMex. We have some variation of it at least once a week and never tire of its goodness. This week is my turn to prepare dinner for the four of us who share meals, and TexMex is going to be front and center.

TexMex always inspires a colorful table, and this one begins simply with a skeletal lady standing on a woven runner. She and the little terra cotta pieces were long ago purchases in San Miguel.

Then are added colorful plates and glasses for mango margaritas. Yes, one has to have a margarita with TexMex.

Each of the napkins was folded to make a pocket for flatware.

All done, the color filled table couldn’t be simpler, and Maizy added her approval!

As the table was being set, I was thinking about what to serve and decided on chicken enchiladas, always a favorite. I thought to serve black beans as a side, but as I dished the enchiladas up I thought it would be fun to top them with the beans and salsa.

On the table were the traditional accompaniments, guacamole, sour cream and salsa in case anyone wanted to add more. All that’s left to do is pour the margaritas and gather round to enjoy another of our delightful shared evenings.

i so appreciate your visit and the comments you leave behind

  1. I absolutely adore your table. You have such a wonderful sense of design. I never would have thought of using a skeletal lady – yet it works perfectly – to pull together this setting for a TexMex meal.

  2. I just made some candied jalapeño. I think that would go with your meal!

    1. For our gourmet gathering, I was assigned an appetizer with carmelized jalapeños. Wonder if that’s similar.

We’re having TexMex tonight! Your design eye was right on target for this table. Really well done; even the entire room must have come into consideration. One doesn’t often equate TexMex with sophistication, but you have achieved a definite level of sophistication with this design. Great work! Thanks for inviting us for a peek. CherryKay

    1. So, what did you fix? We ate every bite at this end which is not unusual! I’m so grateful for your visits, Cherry Kay.

  4. Linda, I always love your colorful and textural tables. The food sounds wonderful!

  5. Now I’m craving chicken enchiladas! Fun and colorful table! My son’s wedding was in San Miguel de Allende…

    1. San Miguel would be a wonderful place for a wedding. I’ve recently been wishing for a trip back there.

      1. they had the donkey with the tequila shots right outside the church, it was quite something, oh and fireworks during the reception which apparently is another Mexican tradition!
