The table is ready
and how I look forward to having family gather round.
Thanksgiving is the only holiday the hubby and I still host as daughters have taken over the rest and create their own traditions.
Here not much changes from year to year. Dishes are the same
and for years dryer hose pumpkins have been arranged one way or another for a centerpiece.
This time some of the pumpkins are in a box that belonged to my much loved mother-in-law. In spirit she is always with us
as is my mother whose flatware is at my place. Why I kept only one place setting is totally beyond me.
Most years there is a little something new just because!
There’s still shopping to do and preparations to be made, but readying the table and reminiscing about all that it means is one of my favorite parts of the day that is to come.

Beautiful table!!! I drove to Atlanta to join the family there for Thanksgiving, but took my traditional fresh cranberry salad and homemade bread.
Lovely table! I agree about the memories that holiday dishes and other components on a table bring to mind. It’s part of my favorite reason for putting everything together every year: even when I feel too tired to do it! Enjoy the rest of the holidays!

Just three of us this year at our Thanksgiving table and I’ve yet to decide how I will set it. Guess I better get a plan by tomorrow. ‘-)

So beautiful and very festive, Lulu. I’ve never done. Thanksgiving dinner as we don’t celebrate it in England or South Africa. Christmas Day is our most important meal of the year.
