Since we are in Maine from May to November and our winter visits are short, not too much generally happens here in the way of seasonal decorating. This year, however, I was so impressed by all the fall changes I’ve seen on blogs, Pinterest and in magazines I decided to make a few here.
Change began by removing summer slipcovers and revealing the autumn colors hidden beneath.
Instantly, the room seemed warmer, and it would have been OK to stop right there, but no, I got the bug.
The coffee table has a new vignette that uses some of my favorite things in a different way.
On a roll now, I made a quick trip to TJ Maxx, confident of finding some new happy. I was not disappointed! I found a cozy new throw that will knock the chill off as I sit by the fire in the mornings and read your blogs and emails. I was delighted to find that it has contrasting sides which suits my fancy for texture.
New pillows for the chairs were a bonus find
as was a garland of fall leaves that I hoped would work above the fireplace.
Unlike many of you, I have no mantle, and the narrow stone ledge is an almost impossible decorating challenge. The garland works though it was kinda tricky getting it to stay in place. If you look closely, you’ll see a few leaves tucked up under the edge of the frame.
Except for moving a piece of furniture or two, that’s the extent of my fall tweaking, but it made such a difference even the hubby noticed it!
i so appreciate your visit and the comments you leave behind

This room is so pretty Lulu! It looks so cozy and inviting. I’d love to curl up on that sofa with a cup of tea. Thanks for sharing at Inspiration Thursday!
My pleasure to share!
Your Fall pieces really added so much coziness to your already beautiful room. I really felt the warmth of these creative and artistic touches.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving such kind comments.
I love your beautiful, warm and cozy Fall decor; however, you really do not need much Fall decorating inside your home when you have the most spectacular visions of Fall outside your window….Can’t imagine the views from your windows!
How right you are!
Your stone fireplace is STUNNING! That is a piece of art there!!! Looking beautiful, festive and fall-ish. We are coming up for a quick stay…..checking up on the house painting and closing it up for the season 😦 I’m already looking forward to next summer. L
I’m glad you appreciate the fireplace.
Looks lovely…What a difference you made!!!
It didn’t take much!
Love the colors and the overall warmth of your home. So ready for fall!

You’re all set! The warm colors are so nice for fall. I love the new pillows you found – and the throw looks sooo soft and cozy! I have mantel challenges, as well. Seeing your leaves gives me a similar idea. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope you have a great week!
You are right about the throw!😴
Sometimes I wish for a mantel but u wouldn’t want the beautiful stonework to be overshadowed.
Perfect to uncover the autumn colors in the furniture. That throw looks like just the perfect thing to cozy up in as the weather cools. I like throws even in the summer. It looks so plush and the color is adorable with the rich warm colors. You did a great job!
Very cozy indeed! Love your sofa and chairs! The throw looks so cozy and comfy.
I’m loving the throw, Janet! Little things do make a difference.
Love it! You always have that special touch :).
Hey, look who’s talking!😉
Beautiful, Lulu! It gives me wonderful ideas to work on fall colors. 🙂
Easier here than in Houston.
Linda, so warm and cozy! I can imagine enjoying a cup of coffee wrapped in the cozy throw in your lovely room!
Looks great Linda! Love the soft fall colors, and the leaves on the fireplace are a perfect touch. 😊😊😊
Beautiful fall decor. Lulu. That throw does look very cozy. 🙂
Very attractive!
It looks great, so cozy! Your mantel has a natural beauty, no need to do too much.. Thought of you tonight. HGTV show about house hunting near Bar Harbour!
