I enjoy those evenings when it’s just the two of us for dinner. We eat in the breakfast room at a simple farm table that I bought off the back of a pickup truck several years ago. It was actually intended for a daughter, but that’s another story and here it stayed.
Early evening glimpses of Rockport Harbor and the area of the yard the kids call Beautiful Land make any meal special.
Nothing fancy about the table which always has a runner with bottles of flowers, a piece of pottery or whatever strikes my fancy on it.
Colors inspire the dish selection which tonight are simple black plates from Ikea and salad plates found at Goodwill which is always worth a stop to see what treasures are there. My husband has a propensity for breaking wine glasses so you can bet the ones we use most often were picked up there or at a yard sale for pennies. Those seem never to break!
This night friends dropped by for a spontaneous hello which turned into dinner.
Two more place settings and a a bottle of our favorite rose and we are ready to share an easy evening with friends. Luckily there was enough dinner for extras. I’ll tell you more about that next time so do come back.
i so appreciate your visit and the comments you leave behind

Lulu the table is beautiful and the view spectacular! So nice that you were able to have dinner with your friends. I love the pretty flowers! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Linda, your summers in Maine are seemingly perfect…the water, food, friends! Just lovely!
Pretty close to perfect, Pam. I love it here.
Your table could be set with paper and your dinner guests would still be happy. Your good cooking and that view would please anyone. 🙂
Quite a compliment from you, my friend!
The view is amazing Linda, and your table is perfect in it’s simplicity!

As you know, simple is my style especially when there is beauty all around.
That is a fantastic view and photo. I like your simple table and tablescape too. It looks homey.
Thank you, I like for people to feel at home here.
Your beautiful views, of course, are my favorite. But those yellow bottles of flowers are a very close second! They are the cherry on top of your simple yet beautiful table. Blessings~
Kim
Well, you know me and bottles. They make for very simple flower arrangements.
Hey Linda ! Great to see you tonight! Too funny walking down the dirt road! Can you and Phil come to dinner next Wed Sept 2?? I have friends in town who I think you would like and Teddy and John are joining us! 18 Bayside Dr Belfast 6 pm! Let me know !!! Would love to see you two!!!
Awesome views and table setting!
What a beautiful view you have when dining…and so nice to be able to enjoy an impromptu meal with friends and that great bottle of wine!
The table and the views are enough to relax anyone! I too like my hidden treasures I find at the Goodwill. Such a fun place to stop at here and there. And when I am done, I donate them back. Tina
I like the calmness of this table and the colors. This is interesting…my post has a picture of sailboats and I have a bottle of wine too! I have some new glasses that suddenly were getting chipped (hubby’s been helping with the dishwasher chore). I like the help in the kitchen, but….
That wine looks good- I’ll have to find that at the store!
Ahhhh, I feel like I could just pull up a chair and enjoy an evening around this table. I love simple, welcoming tables like this best. Your runner is so pretty and I am sure, very versatile. Looking out at those trees, not to mention that harbor must be wonderful!
Lovely table! That runner is great and your view is amazing.
Just as beautiful as I remember it!
Lovely tablescape and view. How I envy your days in Maine!
