Keeping it Simple

No matter whether it’s the hubby and me or friends for a simple week night dinner, I  make some effort to set an attractive table.  Somehow I relate a pleasant table to the food tasting better and to lingering after the meal for late day conversation.

TABLESCAPEThis simple table features a runner inspired by a leftover piece of my handwoven fabric.  Combining it with some remnants was a good way of not letting anything go to waste!

tablescapeEarlier in the day I had arranged cheery yellow alstromeria in vases that easily moved from another spot to the center of the table to surround the candles that were there.

tablescapeDishes? No problem.  Plates and bowls of different but complementary colors add a touch of fun.

tablescapeThe plates are from a thrift shop and the bowls from the dollar store, good finds both.

tablescapeI wish the plates were real Fiesta rather than a copy cat version, but that might be too much to wish for considering their price!

tablescapeThe table is ready.  Beef stew is simmering in the slow cooker.  Wine is chilling.  The doorbell just rang. It’s time to enjoy an easy evening with friends.

i so appreciate your friendly visit and the comments you leave behind

  1. It was interesting to see each individual setting and then in the final pic, everything blended into a colorful and fun tablescape. Loved it!

  2. Love your colorful table, I’m sure your friends enjoyed the evening.

  3. I couldn’t agree with you more, Linda! A nice table is an open invitation to linger after the meal, and it shows guests that you are happy they’re there. A table needn’t be Cirque de Soleil elaborate…just special enough to show you went that extra step or two. What you’ve done here is many steps above the everyday, and the bright, energetic colors really fire up the ol’ appetite.I doubt there was one bite of that beef stew left over!

  4. Your table runner is anything but simple. It is beautiful. I love all the textures and colors. Your flowers and especially the blue vase and candles compliment your table runner. I like how you picked up the green in the napkins. Cheerful and fun. Lucky guests.

  5. Beautiful table runner and I love how you have used all of the colors of dishes to blend with it. Lovely!
