I can’t even remember when it started, but for a number of years four couples have gathered during the holiday season for a special time together. Sadly, one of us is now missing, but that doesn’t keep us who are here from getting together for an evening of memories and laughter and fun.
Whoever is the year’s host determines whether we meet at a restaurant or at home. This year it is at home, and the hosts set a spirited table, full of Christmas cheer. Santa gourds (do I love those?) line the table complemented by a happy Santa runner and boughs of red berries.
Spunky red dishes set the tone
and are topped with happy Santa plates for the first course.
I love the glassware with its differing pattern and texture.
And oh what fun are the napkins secured by tinkling bells which make the spirit bright.
It is a table as spirited as the long time friends who will gather round for yet another memorable evening.
As for me, no way can I appear without wearing this top that dates back to the first of our gatherings. Sequins are loose and it’s not quite as roomy as it once was, but this top is as much a part of the holiday tradition as the gathering itself. Wearing it assures that I will receive considerable grief!
I would love to know about your special holiday gatherings.
i so appreciate your visit and the comments you leave behind

I love gourds, too and have a few on one of the shelves I showed today. Love your pretty sequin top and hearing about the holiday fun you’re having. It’s nice to get to know you and see your pretty decorations! Merry Christmas!
Friends make life special don’t they. And how cool are those Santa Gourds!!! Crazily cool! wishing you and yours a super Christmas and a joyous New Year x
Where do I start/ Wait Merry Christmas! The table is gorgeous as are you in that beautiful top! I also wear mine and he complains about a trail I leave behind lol I told him I was unforgettable.
So you rock that top for as long as it holds on to the sparkle and keep those dear friends close for as long as you have them.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the chilly New England coast down to you in Texas where I hope you will be warmer.
The table looks wonderfully festive … this is the first year in many that I have not hosted such an evening with old friends … but I have wonderful memories. Instead I had lunches. My sister’s knick name is Lulu!
I’ve never seen Santa gourds – they are charming! And I love the sequins – you completely rock that top 🙂
Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful happy table. Love that you keep the traditional sequence going!! 🙂
Wonderful table. I love those Santa plates…just saw them at Belk and fell in love.
What a great table. Those Santa gourds are wonderful, and I love those Santa plates. How fun that you all continue this tradition and especially fun that you wear the same top every year. I know that you are the star of the party with that top. I’m sure they anxiously await your arrival to see if the top has made it another year. Have a wonderful Christmas and new year! laurie
The runner is the perfect backdrop for those darling gourd Santas. You all must have a ball when you gather each year. Thanks for inviting us for a peek. Cherry Kay
Wow love the table theme of Santa….Santa…and Santa. Your table just flows with your Christmas spirit. Keep up the red blouse it shows your true love of the holidays.
Merry Christmas ,
Pam
Yep, it wouldn’t be Christmas if the top didn’t make an appearance.
What a gorgeous tablescape! I love all of your sweet touches.
I hope you are enjoying this holiday season.
This is what Christmas is all about…good friends, traditions and the traditional holiday ribbing! I however love your top! 😉 ps- I love your mantle and that ceiling!

I am so envious of the Vietri table runner and plates! How I would love to have the real ones! Love your top, I have a sequin one too from the 80s that my children think is hilarious~it was quite the glam statement back then wasn’t it!
I didn’t look at the bottom of the plates to see what they were, but now that you’ve said they are Vietri, I’m envious, too! Yep, there was a time when sequins were really in.
How fun and I especially love that you wear the same sequined top! That is a party shirt!!! Your table is adorable and that gourd is fantastic. Glad you had such a wonderful event. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
I can see your beautiful smile, but miss seeing the rest of your face. Great table setting and the top is– well–festive.
The top….it’s a story unto itself. A couple of times I’ve not worn it and no one lets me forget it!

The tradition of gathering together with friends from so many years gone by is very endearing to the heart. The table itself is beautiful. You can tell it has been set with love to honor the friendship that you all share. Beautiful post!
I couldn’t agree with you more. Years pass and it is wonderful to have friends who you’ve shared so much with.

What a lovely table and a fun gathering. I do love your sparkly top!! Fun!
The table setting is lovely! ^^ and your top is too shinning, bling bling~~ 😉
I think you DO like those Santa gourds. I know I do!!! They’re fun! They remind me of the 60s for some reason. I like them a lot!
What a nice tradition to carry on! Three of the neighbors on our cul-de-sac get together with us each Christmas season for our progressive dinner, and it’s something we look forward to and always enjoy. I suggested we start it up a couple of years after moving here. No one had ever done it before, so everyone was game. Now we wouldn’t know what to do without it as a part of our Christmas season activities!
As for your super sequinned top: Rock on, Pat Benatar look-alike!!! 🙂
