Walking the Dog

neighborhood streetRemember the words, “I have often walked down this street before”?  So it is for Maizy and me  as we walk the neighborhood again and again, she sniffing every blade of grass and I lost in the world of familiarity.  But maybe there is something I’m missing.

redbud treeLike the buds on a redbud tree.  Were they here yesterday?  Will they be here tomorrow or, warmed by the sun,  have turned into blooms?

azaleas

Have azalea blossoms always had what looks like beadwork done by fairies on their petals?

flower/hibiscusHave I overlooked a lone hibiscus glowing red in a sea of green

yellow flowersor the vibrant shades of yellow in a neighbor’s garden?

flowersHave I looked to see what is hiding behind a rose’s petal?

robin/birdWhen did the robins return and will they stay or journey on?

squirrelAnd this squirrel high above my head, is it sitting quiet hoping we pass without noticing its presence?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHave I ever walked by when all the wires that keep us  connected are exposed

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAor noticed the tools a repairman brings along?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHave I ever stopped and said hello to the person who delivers packages in the neighborhood day after day?

MaizyOne thing I did notice was how good Maizy was as I stopped and did my own kind of sniffing!

How about you?  Do you pay attention to all that is around you?

i so appreciate your visit and the comments you leave behind

  1. Beautiful blooms and something to consider…we live life “too fast!”

  2. funny I should read this today. Yesterday I drove down a street that have driven down for 30 years and noticed a house that I have never seen before – and it was not a new house either!! I realized that I need to be more observant! Thanks for stopping by Pandora’s Box! patti

  3. I love seeing the first buds on the tree! Our maple had them right before our snow, and our azaleas will be another month or so before blooming. Love the delicate fairy beadwork 🙂

  4. your walk was much warmer than ours 🙂

  5. Looks like you are having beautiful weather..so nice to see the flowers…and yes…on a beautiful day to take a walk, we should all take time to really notice our surroundings and “smell the roses”
    Love the pics!!

  6. I love this post! It is so important to stop in our busy days and just observe the world around us!

  7. Your photos are wonderful. This time of year a few days of mild weather can bring about many changes in the neighborhood. We are a ways from any flowers appearing but I can see the daffodil shoots coming up and the buds on the flowering trees start to swell.

  8. Such beautiful photos! I love what you noticed while on your walk!

    Happy weekend to you!

  9. Love this post – all about stopping and really taking in all there is around you.

Thanks so much for joining in this week.

  10. Lovely photos. I have just sat in my garden (the sun is finally out) and looked around what has surrounded me for ten years in a whole different way. Take care. Chel

  11. Fun!!! I can’t get over the azaleas blooming … more and more each day.

    1. A beautiful time of year in this city. Breakfast when I return mid March?

  12. Beautiful photos Lulu, and you are right, how much are we really seeing as we fly through our days. A great reminder to stop and smell the roses…

  13. Beautiful post, Lulu! It’s enjoyable to see neighbors’ yards and flowers while walking.

  14. Lulu, you stepped into my shoes. Kirby and I have the same experience every time I walk her and it is such a nice, healing time. Thank you for expressing it so beautifully.

You make my day with your comments
