The last visit to my daughter’s house in Tennessee, things looked a lot like this.  We worked hard for several days to try to get boxes unpacked, trying to figure out a place for everything  in this new home.  Funny how different spaces can be.  Now, several months have passed, and while there’s still a box or two to be unpacked, there is a whole new look.
Like for so many these days, my daughter’s taste is very much French country. Â She knows what she likes and doesn’t deviate from that. Â There is nothing in her home that doesn’t belong whether it’s an accessory, a book or a piece of furniture.
 Displays in every room have common elements:  sconces, books, new and old,  terra cotta pots, crowns of all shapes and sizes.  In case you are wondering, this wonderful old piece was a find last spring at Roundtop, Texas’ premier antique festival.
The living room, furnished from Quatrine, is a cozy space, and my favorite feature is the painting. Â Maybe I’m partial because it was done by my other daughter. Â 
Though it is done clearly in her style, it reflects her awareness of her sister’s taste and  favorite things.  Even the painting within the painting is of a French landscape.
Last time here the guest room had a bed and lots of boxes. Â Now, it is an inviting space with a lovely view to the area where farm animals will soon roam.
Keeping with the French look, an upholstered headboard from Wisteria, now on sale I’m told, was added to a bed that is now loaded with pillows. Â The cabinet is one I bought a number of years ago, not because it fit my house but because I loved the glass insert. Â Once the daughter had it, the finish was changed and no one would know it isn’t a French antique!
Though the new place in Tennessee is a farm quite different from her Houston city house, my daughter has found a way to make her treasures work and added new farmhouse touches that tie everything together.  You might be interested in going here to see even more of the beauty she has created and that is around her.

your daughter’s house looks so lovely and restful and inviting. I admire people who have the “decorating touch”. Wereas my place is an accumulated collection of bits and pieces and places we have been. I wish my guest room looked more like hers. Mine is set up for grandchildren sleepovers!

I think all of us create spaces that are comfortable for us. Like you, I have an accumulation of things, but somehow they all work together.
I love to see wall space utilized with a built in bookcase. Takes a long time for everything to fell homey again after a move.
Oh, my! That first photo made me realize what a long way we’ve come here on the farm! It took me MONTHS to clear the dining room table of all that stuff, but it’s finally done! You are so right about every room sharing some common elements. I do love my books, crowns, small pots and sconces! Maybe “consistent” should’ve been my middle name! 🙂 Fun to see my house through your eyes.

Your daughters home is shaping up just beautifully! As you know, I follower her blog. I totally fell in love with her guest rooms. She’s very creative and has a style of her own. The painting your other daughter is just gorgeous…so colorful yet simple. Does she have a blog, too?

Yes, Linsey’s farmhouse is becoming very her. As for the other daughter, she started a blog, but she has 3 boys aged 1, 2 and 3 who take up most of her time so no blogging, no art!

Wow…what an astounding change!!! I know it must have seemed like an endless task a few months ago when everything was piled up with no “home” yet to speak of, but it looks like she has been VERY hard at work getting things together!!! Ah, to be young again with that kind of energy coupled with the enthusiasm and will to get things done! 🙂
What I admire most is that she stays so focused on what she likes, not at all like her mom who likes everything!
