The Megunticook Golf Club in Rockport,Maine, is the oldest still standing club house in New England and takes you back to another time.
Its a wonderful old building with lovely textures of wood and stone
and wrap around porches that are a delightful place to sit and relax.
Special events at the club are warm and friendly, without pretense. Typically, a group of talented and clever ladies show up the day of and prepare the tables. With no fuss or bother, they fold napkins and create centerpieces with flowers from their gardens.
Isn’t it a wonder what can be created with colorful stems pulled from a bucket! I just wish I had all the flower varieties growing in my garden.
Sometimes an event features a speaker as on this day when Lisa McRee, former Good Morning America host, took the podium to share with her audience tips on controlling weight by eating healthy.
If the menu she planned for the event is any indication, one can have plenty of filling and good tasting food as with her salmon with mango/black bean salsa. FYI, Lisa posts her recipes as an online cookbook found here. Take a peek for some very tasty dishes as well as useful food tips.
Keeping things simple is a great way to entertain and it’s even more fun when hands join together to make it happen.
i so appreciate your visit and the comments you leave behind

I remember Lisa McCree…I loved her on GMA….the tables were gorgeous with the beautiful fresh flowers….What a lovely time to have with great ladies and wonderful food, magnificent setting, and listening and learning from a wonderful guest speaker…I would say that it would be my kind of day!!!…Thanks for sharing this with us.
What a wonderful room~ so cozy despite the scale with the stone fireplace and wood. That mango/black bean salsa looks delicious!
Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things hop. Your participation helps make it a success.I’m sorry I am slow to visit I am fighting a nasty head cold and my time on the computer has been limited.Wishing you a beautiful day .xo
The clubhouse speaks to longevity, and so does the speaker. The tables are perfect, and I love that the flowers come from their gardens. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
Great looking club and event. Salad looks fab!
OOh what darling flowers! Just wonderful to have such a nice place to hang out in. The food looks scrumptious! xo marlis
Simple and elegant!
SO pretty!!! I love the sitting porch! Unlike the South, here in the Midwest, porches like that are few and far between. That’s so weird to me because we are generally very friendly people. You’d think that our homes would be built to accommodate that!
Sounds like a nice event…love the beautiful flowers and the salmon. I’m sure a good time was had be all that attended.
I LOVE the building! High vaulted rooms in wood and stone and wrap around porches… swoon!
The tables are beautiful too… simple stylish elegance, Even better in such a fantastic setting!
