The Raven Cometh

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“‘Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door
Only this, and nothing more.”
The Raven
Edgar Alan Poe
What was the raven looking for when the door opened and he flew in, landing on the table?

Was he attracted to the Pottery Barn runner adorned with one of my handwoven runners?

Or perhaps he was looking for the witch whose hat was left behind

or maybe hoping to find some tasty morsel tucked in the leaves and berries of this arrangement fresh from TJ Maxx.

Whatever his goal, he decided to stay for dinner at the table set with hobnail edged dishes, also from TJ Maxx.

So long as he stays where he is, keeps his squawking to a minimum

and doesn’t nibble at the gourds when I’m not looking it’s OK with me.

If the raven causes a problem, he’ll have to answer to all you scapers at Tablescape Thursday.

  2. Love this! And that hat is adorable! I need to get with it. Here Halloween is a few days away and I haven’t done a thing!~Ames

  3. What a spooktacular tablescape!

I created a mad scientists lab this past Monday. I hope you’ll come by for a peek and shriek. 🙂

  4. Wow, this one really sparked my creative juices. Great post!

  5. You just took me back to graduate school. The raven was our theme, so to speak. You could always find a raven at any given time in the classroom. We were hokey. (I should note it was also a creative writing program – so we were really hokey and fun 🙂

  6. A charming table, and I am in love with your purple plaid runner! If it goes missing, you needn’t look far! 😉

    Happy Tablescape Thursday to you…

    XO,

    Sheila 🙂

  7. I think the raven flew in for all the reasons you thought! Love your plates and the P.B. runner! I do love that store too! Love your napkins and how you folder them! Thanks for visiting my blog too!

  8. Lulu, I would’ve loved some of your Coca-Cola paraphanelia for my table. I came up with the idea last minute and put it together in about three hours or so. I think Cracker Barrel has great items for this theme. Don’t you just love Tablescape Thursdays? 😉

  9. Love the table and especially love the writing. 😉 Delightful. That title is perfect. Glad I stopped by.

  10. Great table, Lulu! I love that hat…
