A Wordy Table

It was a Sip and See celebrating a baby boy. Guests were to bring a book so this young one would grow up with words.  With that in mind, books became the inspiration for this delightful table.

Favorite children’s books shared space with stuffed animals.

Thank goodness the now adult daughters left some behind.

Books and critters were surrounded by good things to eat which made the critters very happy!  The food required much more effort than a very simple tablescape which was just right for the occasion.

Linked to Tablescape Thursday with other great table ideas.

Thanks for dropping in.. yes we spend quite a bit of time in Santa Fe. It’s only 4 1/2 hours away and when I win the mega million jackpot, I’m moving there. It’s a very artsy city and it does just feed my soul!

  5. What a great idea to have books and animals. That is so nice.

  6. you are so creative — could you start on climate change? How about hair color that is one time only — poof — your hair grows out its youthful color?

    1. Climate change? Head for Maine. Hair color? You mean gray is not the color of youth?

  7. What an incredibly cute idea!!! It’s always so hard to come up with fun ideas for showers, but you hit this out of the ballpark! I really like the kangaroo! You’re right: It IS a lot harder to do the food part. It can be fun, but it’s still hard. Those little petit fours with the blue booties are darling!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!!

  8. Adorable idea! Love the books and stuffed animal ‘scape. Fabulous shower idea, too. One can never have too many books.

  9. This gives me goosebumps! I love this idea so much. Sometimes I think people think I am strange when I bring a book as a shower gift but I know that books outlast clothes and diapers. I just love this whole table! I know I haven’t been around much lately but I wanted to see what you are up to. I am so glad I didn’t miss this!

    1. I’m with you. A book is always my favorite gift for a child, and I love finding one that is both a good story and beautifully illustrated.

  10. I’ve used this same theme for baby showers in the past. You’ve done a wonderful job with your tablescape. Delightful! Cherry Kay

  11. I love this idea! The kiddos and I will make one like this and enjoy! I am excited, thank you! 🙂
